COST: $1,869 per person, based on double occupancy, and includes motorcoach transportation, hostess service, 7 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 3 dinners, tour and tasting at Rocky Mount Mills, visit to 2 different Oyster Farms, welcome reception on an Antebellum Porch, 2 days of touring aboard a Convertible Sprinter (a full size motorcoach with a retractable roof and 360-degree panoramic views), wine reception on an Antebellum Porch, tour of the Kazoo Factory, horse-drawn carriage ride, free time in downtown Beaufort, visit to the Tybee Island Light Station and Museum, a cruise on Captains Mike’s Dolphin Adventure, visit to the Bonaventure Cemetery, tour at the Pin Point Heritage Musuem, visit to the Wormsloe Historic Plantation, pre-dinner wine or beer on a porch in Sand-Fly, free time in Savannah with hop-on / hop-off trolley tickets, admission to the Country Doctor Museum, 6 night’s lodging, roundtrip luggage service (with the exception of the Hampton Inn Rocky Mount), and all meal, hotel and local guide gratuities.

Saturday, November 6: Wellsboro – Rocky Mount, NC
  • Depart from the Terminal with available pickups: Mansfield, Blossburg, Liberty, Williamsport, Pennsdale
  • A FULL BREAKFAST is included this morning. 
  • Lunch and rest breaks will be made en routeRocky Mount Mills
  • Arrive at the HAMPTON INN ROCKY MOUNT for a 1-night stay. PLEASE NOTE: Luggage service is not included here.
  • Enjoy a WELCOME TOUR, TASTING AND DINNER at ROCKY MOUNT MILLS. Rocky Mount Mills was the second cotton mill constructed in the state of North Carolina, dating back to 1816. Capitol Broadcasting Company bought the 150-acre mills in the 2007 and has since redeveloped it into a mixed-use campus of breweries, restaurants, lofts, office, and event space.

Sunday, November 7: Rocky Mount, NC - Beaufort, SC

  • BREAKFAST is included this morning at your hotel.
  • Depart, with a lunch break made en routeSouthern Porch 2
  • Tour TWO OYSTER FARMS with different purposes in place. One is totally natural, and the other is a year-round farm. Watch oysters being shucked, enjoy an OYSTER TASTING and learn about this fascinating industry and its importance to the eco-system. 
  • Check into BEST WESTERN SEA ISLAND INN for a TWO-NIGHT STAY. Enjoy a WELCOME RECEPTION upon arrival that includes drinks and appetizers.
  • DINNER is included this evening with water views inside a HISTORIC ANTEBELLUM HOUSE.

Monday, November 8: Beaufort, SC

  • BREAKFAST is included this morning at your hotel.
  • Depart to catch the spirit of The Islands onboard a CONVERTIBLE SPRINTERS with 360-degree unobstructed panoramic views. Travel the beaches and backroads inaccessible on a full-sized motorcoach while you discover what makes this area so unique. Roll back the retractable roof once the sprinter pulls off the main roads.
  • This morning, we “Journey from Slavery to Freedom” catching the spirit of island life and its unique history and heritage. Next visit the PRAISE HOUSE, PAT CONROY GRAVE, SLAVE CEMETARY and PENN CENTER. See the PLANTATION HOUSE from the impressive AVENUE OF OAKS.
  • Next, we are off to do a little BEACHCOMBING at an undisturbed and beautiful barrier Island. See the lighthouse, learn its history, and climb, if you dare! Walk the beach while learning about the unique eco-systems of this area, an Audubon and turtle preserve. Explore this Island that was the location of the Vietnam Beach Scene where Forrest Gump carried Bubba to safety.
  • Today's lunch is a LOW COUNTRY SHRIMP BOIL, AKA "Frogmore Stew," served at the SEA ISLAND CENTER.
  • Next we will visit the SHRIMP DOCKS, where your shrimp was harvested for our Low Country Boil today! Owned by a local shrimper, see how they catch from the sea with their nets, boats and docks. Get a close-up experience of low country life and the history of shrimping on the island. Visit the docks and learn the history, heritage and traditions of the commercial shrimping in the low country. See the boats and dockSouthern Porch 3s where Forrest Gump was depicted.
  • On the journey back to the hotel (time permitting), we will stop at a LOCAL FARM MARKET for a chance to purchase and take back some homemade culinary delights such as WEE Gumbo or pick a watermelon to enjoy at the hotel this evening.
  • Return to hotel
  • Visit the historic ANTEBELLUM PORCH in DOWNTOWN BEAUFORT for a WINE RECEPTION. You will be greeted with a glass of wine, light hors d’oeuvres and great company for an enjoyable SOUTHERN SOCIAL.
  • Walk to Main Street (1 block) for dinner on own at any one of 10 local restaurants along Beaufort’s “Front Porch."

Tuesday, November 9: Beaufort, SC - Tybee Island – Savannah, GA

  • BREAKFAST is included this morning at your hotel before departure
  • Tour the KAZOO FACTORY MUSEUM, which contains historical kazoos from the collections of Boaz Frankel, Barbara Stewart, and Rick Hubbard. You will learn all about how the kazoo was invented and how it has come to be America's most beloved musical inscarriage ridetrument.
  • Take a HORSE-DRAWN CARRIAGE RIDE and learn about Beaufort’s history, see Hollywood movie sets, see gorgeous gardens, ancient churches, and many Civil War era Antebellum homes.
  • Explore downtown BEAUFORT with free time for lunch on your own and to shop the unique boutiques, artisan shops and restaurants located here.
  • Lay back and relax aboard CAPTAIN MIKE’S DOLPHIN ADVENTURE. Mike's Dolphin Tours have been offering the best in dolphin tours, sunset cruises, and deep sea fishing from the serenity of Tybee Island, Georgia.
  • Check in to RIVER STREET INN for a TWO-NIGHT STAY.

Wednesday, November 10: Savannah, GA

  • Hop aboard a CONVERTIBLE SPRINTER for touring again today, which offers amazing views of the Spanish Moss, live oak trees, church steeples, and historic houses. Today, you will also be able to TOUR A HISTORIC SAVANNAH HOME.
  • Arrive at the BONAVENTURE CEMETERY to tour Savannah’s oldest cemetery while listening to stories and the lives of some notable inhabitants.
  • Continue to on to the PIN POINT HERITAGE MUSEUM. Located in the old A.S. Varn & Son Oyster and Crab Factory, is your chance to experience the Gullah/Geechee culture first hand. For nearly 100 years, the community of Pin Point was quietly isolated on the banks of the Moon River just south of Savannah. Now, you can explore the refurbished museum complex and experience multimedia presentations, exciting exhibits, and unparalleled views of the marsh!weeping trees
  • A BBQ LUNCH is included on a deck overlooking the MOON RIVER.
  • Visit WORMSLOE HISTORIC PLANTATION for a tour. A breathtaking avenue sheltered by live oaks and Spanish moss leads to the tabby ruins of Wormsloe, the colonial estate of Noble Jones (1702–1775). Jones was a humble carpenter who arrived in Georgia in 1733 with James Oglethorpe and the first group of settlers from England.
  • Enjoy a PRE-DINNER WINE OR BEER while the sun sets from a porch nestled in the heart of Sand-fly offering panoramic views of the waters of the marsh and tidal inlet. Move inside for OYSTER APPETIZERS, and a DINNER including locally-sourced, fresh food.

  • We will depart at approximately 2 pm, with a dinner stop and rest break made en route.

Friday, November 12: Rocky Mount, NC - Wellsboro, PA

  • Visit the COUNTY DOCTOR MUSEUM in Bailey, NC. Experience medicine as it was practiced 100 years ago. Learn how doctors made their own medicine and used alcohol for sedating patients. See the old horse carriages that the doctors would get in to make house calls late at night with nothing more than a lantern to light the way, a blanket and a foot warmer to help against the bitter cold.
  • Depart for home with wonderful southern memories to remember forever! Meal and rest breaks will be made en route.
